Here is a superb quality antique William IV / early Victorian mahogany leather office armchair, circa 1840.

Here is a superb quality antique William IV / early Victorian mahogany leather office armchair, circa 1840. The design is quite unique with a wrap around arms, which are supported by baluster spindles to the seat. The office armchair is upholstered in good quality brown leather; the upholstery is in excellent condition. The pad back is connected to wrap around arms and the leather is secured by studwork all around. The serpentine stuffed seat is firm but very comfortable. The seat is connected to the base by four sturdy fluted baluster shaped legs; this is typical of the William IV period furniture. The legs terminate on brass ferrules with the original mug castors. The chair is extremely comfortable and is very sturdy.

Condition Report:

The chair and the leather upholstery are in excellent condition. The arms are solid and show no signs of movement. The leather upholstery is clean and is free from wear, tears and dirt. There are no breaks to the arms or legs either. Free of woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.

External height = 78.5cm or 2ft 7”

External width = 66cm or 2ft 2”

External depth = 60cm or 2ft

Seat height = 48cm or 1ft 7”

Seat width = 56cm or 1ft 10”

Seat depth = 55cm or 1ft 9¾”
