Georgian Antiques has dated this piece to the 1800s.
The reeded back continues down the front of the chair to form the arms and finishes again on a slight roundel at the end of the arms. There are brass brackets on both sides which would have originally held a reading table and probably a book slide. The arms at the front are supported by 2 fully carved columns, and beneath this is a small apron which runs around the chair. The back legs are out swept and front legs are turned and fluted and finish on a brass cup with a white porcelain castor.
Size 108cm high x 68cm wide x approximately 67cm deep.
