Here is a great example of a superb quality set of 8 French provincial Carolean revival upholstered walnut dining chairs (circa 1860 - 1880) consisting of two armchairs and 6 side chairs from the 2nd Empire period. The chairs are constructed of solid walnut and feature comfortable high backs.
The set of chairs feature arched heads, high backs and the firm comfortable seats. There are very pretty carved scroll solid walnut arms to the armchairs. To the underside of the seats, the chairs feature the original carved Carolean and bobbin style double “H” stretchers with a very pretty prominent half-moon carved front stretcher. The undersides of the chair feature traditional hessian upholstery. The seats are firm so that you do not sink into the seats but at the same time is extremely comfortable.

These chairs are in excellent condition. The chairs have just been professionally upholstered therefore there are no tears, rips, marks or fading to the upholstery. There is no damage to the frame or breaks to the legs or backs. The frames and arms of the armchairs are sold and in excellent condition with no splits or lose movements. The chairs sit firm on the ground and do not wobble. Free of woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
