This was very popular style during the mid Georgian period in England designed by the famous cabinetmaker, Thomas Chippendale. Thomas Chippendale (who lived between 1718 to 1779) is regarded as having been one of the "big three" English furniture makers of the 18th century, along with Thomas Sheraton and George Hepplewhite. Chippendale gave his name to a distinctive style of light and elegant furniture designs.

The chairs are constructed of good quality solid mahogany; they feature a straight reeded leg to the front and a sabre legs to the back. The front and back legs are are supported by twin stretchers for added stability. The backs of the chair features a Chippendale shaped fluted back splat design. The moulded serpentine seat frame feature a drop in seat with newly upholstered light golden draylon material.

Condition Report:

These very nice quality dining chairs retain the original patination having been sympathetically cleaned and wax polished. All the frames are sound. The chairs are free of breaks and are solid in joint and free of wood worm. As it is the original polish, there is some nominal old use marks and minor colour variation to the chair frames. The chairs have been newly and professionally upholstered in light golden colour draylon material. The upholstery is in excellent condition. Free of woodworm, solid in joint; the chairs do not wobble and they are ready to use.
