A wonderful early eighteenth century oak back stool or side chair. The chair stands on finely turned legs with ball feet and it has a typical paneled seat. The back has a central fielded panel section and ogee moulded uprights. The top crest is finely carved with scrolls and shells and the uprights have turned finials. The whole has a superb original patina and colour and is in excellent original condition. There has been an old invisible repair to the front seat rail which means it is still a very sturdy chair.
