Description

Here we have a wonderful Yew and Elm Lincolnshire Windsor armchair c1820. As you can see the chair has exceptional colour and patina. Of course all the best Windsors were made from Yew and Elm and this chair is no exception. I am firmly attributing this chair as being made by the Amos family from Grantham Lincolnshire. You will see from the photo the chair is identical to a recorded Amos chair. This famous chair maker made a range of chairs but this would have been the best of Windsors that he produced. Dating is simple with Amos being in business from 1814-1842 this chair with its crinoline stretcher and Elm seat with grain running left to right suggests an early date of around 1820. A super chair with strong joints ready to use.
