A superb and completely genuine late seventeenth century oak wainscot chair. The chair stands on turned front legs and arm supports of a fine slender nature. The legs are united by simple cross stretchers, typical of early chairs. The seat is solid oak in and the back has a central panel with open sides. The crest rail is simply shaped as are the arms all heavy and solid throughout. The chair has a superb untouched colour and patina. It cannot be understated how original and untouched this chair is and also how incredibly rare that is. C.1690.
