Edwardian Mahogany Sheraton Style Chair with Original Cane Seat

An Edwardian Sheraton style mahogany chair with original cane seat, possibly by Frederick Tibbenham of Ipswich, Suffolk.

This chair is superbly executed and is elegant in design.

The chair has a shaped top rail with turned patera at each corner with carved central design.

The central splat has a lattice decoration supported by turned patera in the form of flowers.

A moulded bottom rail supports the splat.

The piece has elegantly shaped arms, supported by turned fluted arm supports with acanthus decoration.

The seat has it's original cane work and is encased in a semi-circular seal rail with carved patera.

The four legs are fluted with a carved design at the top of the front legs terminating with a turned foot.

This chair is of exceptional quality and if it could be produced today would cost far in excess of £1000.00.

A cushion could be made for this chair but at an additional cost.

This chair is of stable construction and can go straight into a home.
