Oversized Pair English Carved Walnut Armchairs.

Description

A truely extraordinary pair of late 19th.c. English walnut throne style open armchairs. Carved in high relief with floral decoration, fearsome medieval style lion’s heads on the arms, turned supports and shaped stretchers. Most remarkable however, are the wonderfully naturalistic court jesters climbing through windows below the crest rail of each chair . In very good solid unrestored condition.

Dimensions: width 27", depth 30", height 55".
