Arts & Crafts Oak Rocking Chair of Large Proportion

An unusual Arts & Crafts oak rocking chair of large proportion of both good colour & quality, possibly American.

This chair has four shaped back splats, all with sections of impressed leather with floral designs.

This decoration is typical of the Arts & Crafts movement as it took influence from nature & particularly from the flora & fauna of the British countryside.

The splats are joined with nine sections of ball turned spindles which also create the design of the chair.

The shaped arms & arm supports lead down to the leather seat, fixed with brass studs.

Below the seat rail are two roundels in oak with impressed leather decoration of winged mythical creatures.

The chair terminates with the shaped rockers at the base.

This chair is in very good original condition & stable construction.
