Pair of French Late 19thc Walnut Fauteuils

A late 19thc French pair of walnut fauteuils (open armchairs) of large proportion in the Louis XV style.

These chairs have a cartouche-shaped padded & upholstered back with acanthus carving on the frame.

Also at the base of the back supports there are acanthus carved supports attaching the back to the seat.

The arms have upholstered arm-rests with acanthus carving on both the arm & s-scroll arm support.

The upholstered sprung seats have a serpentine shaped seat rail, the frame edged with carved acanthus scrolls.

The cabriole legs have a scallop shell design on the knee, leading down to carved husks & acanthus, terminating in a scroll foot.

Although this upholstery is in good order, if the fabric needs to be changed they could easily be re-upholstered.

These chairs are in a stable condition & can go straight into a home.
