A Regency Overmantle Mirror

19th century
Description

An early 19thc giltwood and gesso rectangular overmantle. Extremely plain in design which suits modern tastes and the perfect size for most fireplaces. 106 cm wide at the top and 94 cm at the base . 70 cm high overall. The mirror plate is original mercury glass which is bevelled right and left. It has just the right amount of ageing to it and the exposed glass measures 75cm by 52 high. A makers label is attached to the rear being J + W Freeman N0 2 London Lane (Norwich ?). There is some gilt paint to the finish and some original gilt all with good patination.
