19th C Anglo Indian Vizagapatam Sewing Box

Description

An interesting anglo indian sewing box from the late 19th century and probably made in Vizagapatam , the main body being heavily carved sandelwood with elephants and other intricate decoration surrounded with an ivory or bone mosaic inlaid border , the interior opens to reveal a grand purple velvet lined lid above an interior complete with further carved sandelwood compartments and a host of ivory mosaic inlaid bobbin reels , containers and even a tape measure of some description ,the whole box standing on four grand looking paw feet.

The condition is good , whilst the box is complete and in solid condition i can only describe it as having minor losses , this will cover any areas of mosaic or fine trim that may be loose or missing which is understandable although i must stress minimal.
