The very base of the box is cherry wood with the remainder being carved entirely from tortoiseshell making it very light and delicate , the solid sides are carved with various mythical beasts while the lid is pierced and fretted to the highest quality imaginable including three butterflies that actually slightly move on fixed pegs , gorgeous !!
