Victorian Ebonised and Gilt Small Hand Chair

Description

Circa 1880, Victorian Aesthetic ebonised and gilt small hand chair, with twisting handle on the top, open fretwork back and stylised turned columns below with a mixture of gilding and ebony. The seat pad itself is a wonderful example of Victorian needlepoint with its geometric pattern. Below is a lovely cord and velvet mixture and a nice fringe. The legs again are a mixture of turning and fluting and there are similar stretchers on all sides. The legs finish with a slight sweep to the front and similar on the back. This is a wonderful example of Aesthetic Movement.

Size 83cm high x 42cm wide x 40cm deep.
