Antique Victorian Mahogany Carolean Chair C1850 W6576/19.9

19th century
Description

Lovely antique victorian mahogany carolean armchair in the 17th cent style and dating from aorund 1850. It has a high carved top rail above a split cane back rest carved to the base with reeded side supports leading to outswept reeded and scrolled armrests on turnmed front supports above a deep stuff over seat with original needlepoint cover with some slight wear to the front (see photos) but rather than detract we feel that this adds to the character of the chair. It also has its original deep tassled fringe and stands on carved cabriole legs with a spanish paw foot joined by a shaped stretcher which has a carved shell to the centre.

Measures: 46" high X seat height 17" X 22" deep X 24" wide

A stunning chair in very good condition with a lovely deep colour and patination to the mahogany oozing all the charm and character of the period.

Please view our website for more antique seating and quality antique furniture. We have been selling to both the trade and public for 30 years at competitive trade prices. Callers welcome to our warehouse and enquiries via email/tel: 01423561334/07884377373

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
