Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of French Provincial bedside tables from around 1900 is made from warm brown oak with a visible timber grain. Each piece stands on slender cabriole legs and features a carved lower apron with a subtle central motif, an open storage niche, and a single top drawer fitted with a small round brass knob. The tops and edges display gentle curves, and the side panels have delicate raised moulding details. The pair measures 71 cm high, 42 cm wide, and 34 cm deep. These compact tables suit placement beside a bed in a traditional or French chateau style bedroom to hold lamps, books, and nighttime essentials. They also function well as small accent tables beside an armchair in a living room or sitting area.

FAQs

Turn-of-the-century French Provincial nightstands typically feature splayed cabriole legs, carved aprons, and structured storage incorporating both a single top drawer and an open lower compartment.

Cabinets from this period were commonly constructed using solid European oak, utilizing hand-cut dovetail joints for drawer construction and mortise and tenon joinery for the frame.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural timber shrinkage, historic drawer wear, hand-turned brass hardware, and original joinery marks beneath the frame rather than modern screws or machine nails.

Position them flanking a modern upholstered or timber bed frame to create balance, using neutral ceramic lamps and understated linen bedding to complement the natural wood grain.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year, keeping the wood away from direct radiator heat sources to prevent timber movement.
