A Superb Victorian Antique Pine Waxed Glazed Adjustable Display Cabinet

19th century
Description

This cabinet is in good condition. We have professionally stripped and restored it and then waxed it in a lovely antique brown bri wax giving it a stunning patina.

The cabinet would look well in an old or modern property amongst similar antique pine furniture for storage. It would look great in any room for any storage purpose.

The cabinet stands on a square plinth supporting the main section. There is one large door that has its original glass. It is stunning the photos do not do it justice. The door has a round turned wooden knob. Behind the door there are three shelves for storage. The shelves are adjustable. The top is in good condition.

The height is 158cm, the width is 90cm and the depth is 40cm.

Date of Manufacture

D & J Hunt Antiques has dated this Victorian Pine Display Cabinet to the Victorian era.

Delivery Terms

WE OFFER FREE DELIVERY TO ENGLAND, WALES, AND SCOTLAND (BELOW PERTH)

Shipping /delivery is equally as important to us as the item of furniture itself. It is simple; we deliver everything personally in England / Wales so this way we are 100% sure that the item / furniture reaches our customers safe and sound. We NEVER use couriers. Delivery is generally within 7-14 days of purchase. We guarantee delivery anywhere in England / Wales within 21 days of purchase.

Deliveries to Scotland as far north as Perth are guaranteed within 6 weeks of purchase. If delivery is required above Perth in Scotland please contact James on 07957 392 074 or

james@davidhuntantiques.com for a price.

Deliveries are either carried out by David or James as one member of the team is required to stay in the warehouse, therefore we do require assistance from the van into your hallway with the item of furniture. We have set delivery days and once the van is loaded (a day prior to delivery) David will call customers to arrange a two hour delivery time slot. Customers will also receive a text when delivery is 30 minutes away.

It is really helpful if customers can provide their ‘what3words’ location to make delivery as smooth

as possible, especially properties in rural locations.

Ireland Deliveries

We do use a very good courier company called DVM Service to deliver goods to Ireland. We ask the customer to pay this company direct for the delivery charge and we then liaise with DVM regarding collection of a customer’s item of furniture to be shipped to Ireland.

Europe & Rest of the World

We do not ship to Europe or the Rest of the World.

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Victorian pine display cabinet exhibits a warm brown waxed finish with a visible wood grain and a structured rectangular form. The moulded cornice surmounts a single glazed door fitted with a round turned wooden knob, opening to reveal three internal adjustable wooden shelves above a square plinth base. Measuring 158 cm high, 90 cm wide, and 40 cm deep, the piece provides versatile storage for books, tableware, or collectables. The cabinet integrates smoothly into both traditional and contemporary interiors, serving as a functional storage solution in a living room, dining area, hallway, or study. Placed alongside other antique pine furniture, the rustic farmhouse style complements a range of domestic settings while offering clear visibility for displayed items through the original glass panel.

FAQs

A Victorian pine glazed cabinet is a nineteenth-century storage piece constructed from pine and fitted with glass door panels, traditionally used for displaying china, books, or collectibles while protecting them from dust.

Victorian cabinetmakers primarily used solid woods such as pine, oak, and mahogany, utilizing traditional joinery techniques including mortise and tenon joints, dovetailing, and hand-cut glass panes.

Authentic Victorian pine furniture often features hand-carved details, turned wooden knobs, original timber shrinkage marks, hand-cut dovetail joints, and subtle irregularities in older mouth-blown glass.

A glazed pine cabinet can be incorporated into modern interiors as a kitchen pantry, a bathroom linen store, or a living room bookcase, where natural wood tones contrast effectively against contemporary neutral walls.

Maintain waxed pine by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a clear, natural beeswax paste once or twice a year, avoiding harsh chemicals, excessive water, and direct heat sources.
