Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A matched pair of Arts and Crafts bedside cabinets date from 1920 and present an authentic English Country House aesthetic. Constructed from solid oak with a warm brown finish, the timber displays prominent quartersawn medullary rays and a deep, waxed patination. Each rectangular cabinet incorporates a top with a moulded edge above a single cupboard door set within a raised rectangular panel. Original brass teardrop drop handles attach to the right side of the doors, while lower front aprons feature a curved, shaped cut-out resting upon styled upright feet. Interior shelving provides practical storage space for domestic belongings. Measuring 71 cm high by 36.8 cm wide and 35 cm deep, these compact pieces fit easily into bedroom settings alongside a bed or function as small side tables in a hallway or sitting room. The traditional construction and period character complement both vintage and contemporary interiors while offering versatile surface space for lighting and nighttime essentials.

During the 1920s, British furniture design often drew inspiration from the Arts and Crafts movement, incorporating solid oak construction, geometric panelwork, and restrained decorative elements such as brass drop handles.

Cabinets from this era commonly featured framed-and-panelled construction using oak timber, mortise and tenon joinery for the frames, and drop handles made from cast brass.

Authentic pieces usually display age-appropriate patina on the wood finish, hand-fitted hinges, natural oxidisation on brass hardware, and secondary woods such as pine used for non-visible back panels.

Pairing warm oak cabinets with neutral linen bedding, contemporary brass lamps, and minimal ceramic accessories balances traditional woodwork with modern interior schemes.

Maintain oak furniture by dusting regularly with a soft cloth and applying a clear natural beeswax polish once or twice a year, while avoiding direct heat sources to prevent movement in the timber.
