Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

This nineteenth-century English oak coffer provides practical storage for the home, designed in an English country style with a rectangular form. Constructed from solid timber with a dark brown finish displaying natural grain patterns, the piece features a hinged flat top lid that opens to a spacious interior compartment. The front elevation is detailed with a panelled construction and a central brass diamond-shaped keyhole escutcheon, supported by straight block feet at the base. Measuring 130 cm wide by 48.5 cm deep and 72 cm high, this sturdy storage chest works well in an entrance hall, living room, or at the foot of a bed for linens and blankets. It integrates seamlessly into traditional or rustic interiors as a functional accent furniture item.

A coffer is a traditional wooden storage chest featuring a hinged lid, historically utilised throughout Europe for storing valuable textiles, bedding, and personal belongings.

Traditional coffers were typically constructed from solid hardwoods such as oak or elm using mortise and tenon joinery, pegged timber joints, and hand-forged iron or brass hardware.

Authentic 19th-century pieces exhibit structural signs of historic craft, such as hand-planed wood surfaces, natural timber shrinkage, historic wear to the base, and original joinery techniques.

An antique coffer functions effectively as a coffee table in a living room, a functional storage unit at the foot of a bed, or a bench in an entryway or hallway.

Solid oak coffers should be dusted regularly with a dry cloth and treated periodically with natural beeswax polish to protect the timber surface and maintain the existing patina.
