Description

Beautiful Chinese Red Lacquered Wedding Cabinet, the front hand painted with butterflies & leaves in black outline with gilt highlights.

Good quality solid elm carcass made in two sections. Each section with two doors & original bronze lock plates.

Black lacquered panelled ends.

Butterflies in Chinese culture are a symbol of love, beauty & joy as well as representing longevity which is fitting for this cabinet which would have been given as a wedding present filled with useful items to a newly married couple.

A lovely, early 20th Century example that would make a stunning centrepiece.
