Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 1920s antique bedside cabinet is a compact Art Deco storage piece constructed from walnut and oak veneer. The dark warm brown wood displays a rich grain pattern with polished surfaces. The rectangular unit incorporates a top drawer fitted with a small hexagonal metal knob, positioned above an open central shelf. Below the shelf sits a cupboard door decorated with a distinctive geometric veneer inlay arrangement in contrasting timber tones, complete with a matching hexagonal metal pull on the left side. The structure stands on a stepped plinth base with curved cut-out details at the bottom corners. Measuring 72 cm in height, 45 cm in width, and 37 cm in depth, the proportions suit placement beside a low bed or alongside seating in a living space. Practical storage surfaces combine with distinctive geometric decoration suited to period-inspired or contemporary interiors. The combination of open display space and closed cupboard storage accommodates bedside books, reading glasses, and night-time essentials while keeping surfaces tidy. The neutral warm timber tones integrate easily into various bedroom or study colour schemes. Placed next to a bed or a sofa, the cabinet functions as a functional side table with enclosed shelving.

FAQs

Art Deco bedside cabinets feature bold geometric forms, clean vertical lines, and prominent decorative timber veneers. Storage layouts often combine a top drawer with open shelving niches and lower cupboards.

Craftsmen utilized high-figured timber veneers such as walnut, mahogany, and maple applied over solid wood bases, often finished with geometric marquetry, bakelite handles, or polished metal hardware.

Authentic period pieces exhibit traditional joinery techniques including hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, solid wood backboards, period-correct hardware, and natural timber oxidisation beneath the original lacquer or wax polish.

Position the cabinet alongside neutral upholstered bed frames or place it in a reading corner as an end table, pairing the dark timber tones with modern brass lighting and textured fabrics.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish twice a year to preserve moisture in the veneer, ensuring the piece is kept away from direct heat sources and harsh sunlight.
