Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

Victorian burr walnut furniture is characterised by the distinctive, highly figured grain patterns produced from root or trunk growths of the walnut tree, popularised during the mid-to-late 19th century.

These pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints, solid timber drawer linings, and thin sheets of burr walnut veneer laid over a stable hardwood or softwood carcass.

Look for hand-sawn timber drawer bases, original wooden handles or brass hardware, natural patination, and age-related shrinkage lines on veneered surfaces.

Place them symmetrically flanking an upholstered or wooden bedstead, topped with contemporary ceramic lamps to balance historical character with clean modern lines.

Maintain stability by keeping pieces away from direct heat sources and sunlight, and clean regularly using beeswax paste applied with a soft cloth.
