This is a Rene Lalique amber opalescent Cyprins trinket box from the 1920 Art Deco period. The piece is made of amber opalescent glass with a circular relief layout and a moulded carp motif featuring flowing fins. The photograph shows a glossy finish reflecting light from above, a black-painted replacement wooden base with green baize underside, and visible orange-glowing highlights along the fish outlines. The box measures 6 cm high and 25 cm wide. In a modern interior, this item sits on a sideboard top to hold small personal treasures. The design brings subtle elegance to any room surface where small decorative items are displayed. The solid construction and compact dimensions allow it to rest securely on flat furniture surfaces while adding vintage style to the space.

Art Deco glass by Rene Lalique is characterised by press-moulded lead glass featuring naturalist motifs, intricate textures, and satin, opalescent, or stained coloured finishes developed in France during the 1920s.

These boxes were created using metal moulds into which molten coloured glass was pressed, followed by hand-finishing, acid-etching, or patination to highlight the raised relief details.

Authentic examples typically feature a moulded or wheel-engraved makers mark, precise casting without soft mold seams, and period-accurate glass weight and optical clarity.

Position the piece where light can pass through the glass, such as on a console, vanity table, or lighted display shelf, allowing the relief pattern and amber tones to create visual focus.

Hand wash gently using lukewarm water and a mild detergent, avoiding chemical solvents, hot water, or abrasive cloths that could alter the surface patina or scratch the glass.
