Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A pair of 1930 Swedish Art Deco bedside cabinets made from honey brown satin birch timber with inlaid marquetry details and dark round handles. Each piece in this pair stands on reeded feet, featuring an open upper compartment above a single cupboard door, with side grab handles and dark edge mouldings. The satin birch shows polished grain patterns across the rectangular tops, curved door fronts, and sides. Each cabinet measures 58 cm high, 47 cm wide, and 38 cm deep. These bedside cabinets function effectively in a contemporary bedroom as practical storage surfaces positioned beside a bed to hold lamps, books, and night-time essentials. The compact proportions allow them to fit easily into smaller guest rooms or master suites while providing both surface space and enclosed cabinet storage.

FAQs

Swedish Art Deco, often associated with the Swedish Grace movement of the 1920s and 1930s, combines classical proportions with simplified Neoclassical motifs, clean architectural lines, and refined timber veneers.

Craftsmen frequently utilised native light hardwoods, particularly satin birch and flame birch veneers, which were routinely highlighted with contrasting ebony or dark wood marquetry and bronze hardware.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit book-matched timber veneers, subtle geometric or scroll inlay details, open upper niches, and traditional cabinetmaking features such as solid joinery and fitted doors.

The warm golden tones and streamlined silhouettes of satin birch allow these pieces to fit seamlessly into modern minimalist bedrooms, neutral Scandinavian schemes, or eclectic spaces.

Preserve the veneer by dusting regularly with a dry, soft cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish periodically, while ensuring the timber is kept away from direct heat sources and excessive moisture.
