Georgian corner cabinets from the 18th century are freestanding or wall-mounted storage pieces crafted to fit flush into ninety-degree room corners. They typically feature dense hardwoods such as mahogany or oak, classic architectural proportions, astragal-glazed upper doors, and panelled lower cupboard doors.

These cabinets were predominantly built using solid mahogany or oak frameworks, with pine or spruce often utilised as secondary internal woods. Construction features include hand-cut dovetail joints, hand-blown glass panes secured with wooden astragal glazing bars, and decorative wood stringing or marquetry.

Authentic pieces exhibit signs of hand-planed woodwork, irregular hand-cut dovetails on internal drawer or frame construction, and original iron or brass hardware. The backboards often show hand-sawn tool marks and uneven oxidisation consistent with two centuries of age.

A tall corner cabinet maximises unused floor space in dining rooms, living areas, or hallways. Modern styling involves curating ceramic collections, glassware, or books inside the glazed section while utilizing modern ambient lighting to highlight the interior woodwork.

Maintain the cabinet by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax paste once or twice a year along the wood grain. Keep the piece away from direct sunlight and central heating radiators to prevent the timber from warping or drying out.
