Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of Edwardian bedside tables follows a Louis XV style and is constructed from walnut, rosewood, and fruitwood in a warm brown tone. Each chest measures 71 cm high, 44 cm wide, and 34 cm deep. The tops, sides, and fronts display intricate floral marquetry inlay depicting vases of flowers, complemented by small brass drawer handles, a scalloped apron, and slender cabriole legs ending in brass sabots. In a contemporary home, these bedside tables suit a bedroom as lamp tables or bedside storage units, while also functioning as accent tables in a living room or hallway. The rich timber tones and detailed floral patterns bring traditional character to classic or eclectic interiors.

FAQs

Louis XV style marquetry bedside tables are characterised by flowing curved silhouettes, serpentine legs, and decorative wood veneer patterns depicting floral or foliate motifs.

These pieces generally feature a solid wood framework, such as oak or fruitwood, covered in contrasting veneers like rosewood, walnut, and kingwood, often embellished with cast brass or bronze mounts.

Authentic period marquetry shows hand-cut veneer joints, minor variations in wood grain alignment, hand-carved dovetail drawer joinery, and natural age-related patina on the metal hardware.

Pair these decorative wooden nightstands with neutral linen bedding, understated contemporary lighting, and minimalist wall decor to allow the detailed marquetry work to remain the focal point.

Maintain marquetry surfaces by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax polish annually, avoiding direct sunlight and harsh chemical cleaners.
