Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 1920 Art Deco bedside cabinet is made from warm brown walnut and burr walnut veneer with a brass latch and handle on the door. The furniture piece features a low gallery top, a sculptured carved frame detail surrounding the door, and four tall cabriole legs. The wood displays varied grain patterns across the rectangular top and the single cabinet door. Inside, a shelf sits in the centre alongside ventilation holes in the back. The cabinet stands 79 cm high, 41 cm wide, and 41 cm deep. In a modern home, this bedside cabinet serves as a convenient storage surface next to a bed in a bedroom, or functions as a small accent table in an empty corner of a living room or hallway to hold daily essentials.

FAQs

Art Deco walnut furniture from this era frequently combines traditional forms, such as carved cabriole legs, with book-matched burr walnut veneers, clean geometric profiles, and decorative carved borders framing the cabinet doors.

These cabinets typically feature solid hardwood frames overlaid with figure-rich burr walnut veneers, traditional dovetail or mortise-and-tenon joinery, and solid brass or base metal door hardware.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural timber grain variations, age-related patination on the interior surfaces and metal hardware, and hand-finished solid wood joinery rather than modern synthetic materials.

Pair the warm tones of burr walnut with neutral wall shades, modern table lamps, or crisp linen bedding to balance historical craftsmanship with contemporary interior design.

Keep the cabinet away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent veneer drying or fading, dust regularly with a soft dry cloth, and apply a high-quality beeswax polish annually to protect the finish.
