Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This freestanding Victorian lamp table dates from 1860 in the Louis XV Revival style, formed in warm brown kingwood with parquetry veneer, ormolu mounts, and a pierced brass top rim. The serpentine top rests above a sliding side door with a circular handle, above ornate gilt-bronze mounts and shaped cabriole legs terminating in ormolu sabots, joined by a lower kingwood shelf with a brass edge. The dimensions measure 68 cm high, 42 cm wide, and 34 cm deep. Placed at the end of a sofa or beside an armchair in a drawing room or sitting room, this piece serves as a surface for lamps, books, or decorative items. The lower tier provides additional storage or display space, while the compact proportions suit smaller spaces within traditional interiors.

FAQs

Victorian-era Louis XV revival furniture features exaggerated cabriole legs, asymmetrical Rococo motifs, detailed wood veneers, and gild-bronze (ormolu) mounts inspired by 18th-century French decorative arts.

Craftsmen traditionally utilised exotic hardwoods such as kingwood, rosewood, or walnut arranged in parquetry patterns, paired with gilt-bronze mounts and pierced brass gallery rims.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut timber veneers, natural oxidisation on metal mounts, hand-chased bronze detailing secured with period-appropriate screws, and solid hardwood sub-frames.

This type of occasional table functions beside an armchair, within a hallway alcove, or as a bedside table, complementing both classic and eclectic modern interior design schemes.

Veneered wood surfaces require application of beeswax polish to maintain moisture, while keeping the item out of direct sunlight and cleaning metal mounts gently with a soft dry cloth.
