Culvertons has dated this Antique Oak Ticket Box to the Victorian era.
This lovely golden oak example retains its original internal sliding tray, lifting handles, drawer handle and both locks, one stamped N.E.R. As expected for an item used constantly in service, it shows marks and signs of wear. The dark mark on the lid looks worse than it is and has barely disturbed the original polish. Our restorer could likely remove it, but doing so would compromise the piece’s integrity, so it is best left alone. The box is fixed to the stand, but removing four screws allows it to separate easily for transport. A rare survivor from the age of steam, full of history, character and charm.
