Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 19th-century Victorian filing cabinet takes the form of a tall, narrow set of shallow drawers in a rustic farmhouse style, rendered in a warm brown pine timber with visible grain variations and knots. The piece comprises six stacked drawers, each fitted with a rectangular brass campaign-style cup handle, a small central keyhole escutcheon, and signs of gentle age through minor surface marks on the wood. The cabinet rests on a solid, simple plinth base beneath the lowest drawer and is topped by a flat wooden surface with a slight overhang at the front and sides. Measuring 91 cm high, 57 cm wide, and 63 cm deep, this functional storage unit fits well in a home study, hallway, or bedroom to organise paperwork and smaller items while adding a traditional aesthetic to the interior space.

FAQs

During the 19th century, shallow pine filing drawers were utilised in commercial offices, banks, and haberdasheries for organising documents, ledger sheets, paper records, or trade samples.

Storage pieces from this era featured solid pine construction, hand-cut dovetail joints on drawer fronts, solid plank backs, and heavy recessed brass cup or flush handles engineered for frequent commercial use.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut drawer joinery, irregular timber grain, historical surface wear, individual brass keyholes, and unpolished brass drawer pulls bearing natural oxidisation.

These vertical storage pieces function effectively as hall tables, office organisers, or bedside storage, providing practical utility while introducing warm timber tones to neutral modern spaces.

Dust surfaces regularly with a dry, lint-free cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish periodically along the wood grain to protect the timber finish without altering its natural colour.
