Of French Empire design, the original frame with substantial tapering columns of figured mahogany mounted with exquisitely incised bronze mounts in the classical form, and the base of each column with large bronze rings of matching form.

The mirror plate is original also - hand made glass with a few areas of background foxing which are very difficult to notice and only visible when you shine a light across the glass from the side. The reflection throughout is clear and true.

The frame to the mirror is dressed in flame mahogany laid in a lovely radiating pattern.

All set on four substantial arched feet retaining original brass casters.

The whole in excellent showroom condition with only minor losses, scuffs and dings consistent with age and use.

The French Empire design became popular in the Regency period when the fashions of the Napoleonic court were adopted by the Prince Regent and aristocracy and this mirror was made between 1810 and 1820.
