£200    $270    €235

Historical Context

Air twists gave way to opaque twists in the mid-18th century as taste shifted towards bolder, more decorative designs. Opaque twists, with their white canes, created a stronger visual effect and were more fashionable.

At the same time, advances in glassmaking allowed for more complex and intricate stem constructions, making opaque twists a showcase of both craftsmanship and status.
