Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edwardian display cabinets, dating from roughly 1901 to 1910, are characterised by light proportions, delicate marquetry, and Sheraton or Hepplewhite Revival influences. They frequently feature rich mahogany frames, geometric astragal glazing, painted or inlaid floral details, and slender tapered legs.

Primary woods included mahogany, satinwood, and rosewood, often decorated with boxwood, tulipwood, or mother-of-pearl inlays. The glass panes were usually thin float glass held within narrow wooden astragal bars, and the interiors were frequently lined with fabric or velvet.

Look for hand-cut dovetail joints, authentic hand-drawn glass with slight surface imperfections, period brass lock mechanisms, and light oxidisation on the timber backboards. Authentic pieces exhibit delicate craftsmanship rather than heavy, modern machine construction.

Style the cabinet alongside minimalist contemporary furniture to create a balanced contrast. Use the interior shelves to display curated collections of ceramics, modern glassware, or art books, allowing the timber tone to add visual warmth to neutral wall palettes.

Position the piece away from direct sunlight and central heating sources to prevent wood shrinkage and lacquer cracking. Dust regularly with a soft, lint-free microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the timber.
