Description

Hi

I have for sale a 1900s French solid silver miniature carriage clock made in France in the original case, which was fully restored both movement/platform and case in January 2026 .

The Case

The case is in solid hallmarked silver and stands 8cm x 4cm wide with a depth of 3cm it is in very good condition with mint convex glass front.

The Dial

The dial is in good original condition in white porcelain with a retailers name matching the box , finished off with ornate black hands.

The Movement

The movement is an eight day time only; the movement has been cleaned serviced and oiled so keeping great time over the eight days via the original cleaned/serviced silver platform escapement to the top.

Original key included and the original travel case.

Overall a very beautiful top quality carriage clock by a quality French maker that looks stunning on display and contains all of its original features this is quite a rare find these days.

I had trouble with the photos because of its size and deep shine it is much better in the flesh.

I will post worldwide.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Authenticity is determined by examining the hand-engraved details on the movement, hallmarks on the metal case, the quality of the enamel dial, and the presence of original components and fitted carrying cases.

Place the clock on a mantelpiece, desk, or bedside table where its intricate details and historical craftsmanship can be appreciated as a focal point.

Keep the clock away from direct sunlight and high moisture, avoid over-winding the mechanical movement, and have it serviced periodically by a professional horologist.

These timepieces typically feature brass, silver, or gilt bronze cases with glass panels, enamel dials, and delicate mechanical movements, often housed within leather-covered wooden travel cases lined with silk and velvet.

Carriage clocks originated in the 19th century as portable timepieces designed for travellers, officers, and the wealthy, incorporating spring-driven movements to function accurately while in transit.
