Edwardian furniture, produced during the reign of King Edward VII (19011910), often drew inspiration from earlier periods like Sheraton and Chippendale, featuring lighter proportions, delicate marquetry, and a focus on elegance and comfort.

Cabinet makers of this era frequently used timbers such as mahogany, satinwood, and walnut, often embellished with contrasting wood veneers, boxwood stringing, and mother-of-pearl or brass hardware.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints in drawers, genuine timber construction with secondary woods like pine or oak on interior surfaces, and age-appropriate oxidisation and wear consistent with early 20th-century manufacture.

Pairing antique cabinets with modern minimalist decor creates a curated look; use them as functional nightstands or accent tables to introduce warmth, historical texture, and craftsmanship into a room.

Maintain antique wooden surfaces by keeping them away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking, dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth, and applying high-quality beeswax periodically to nourish the grain.
