Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of bedside cabinets belongs to the French Louis XV Revival style and dates from 1930. Constructed from warm brown kingwood with wood veneer and brass, the pieces take a serpentine front form with kidney shapes and stand on tall cabriole legs. Each cabinet incorporates two drawers fitted with gilt brass handles alongside applied decoration to the feet, while marquetry floral inlay adorns the surfaces. The timber displays rich grain patterns in warm brown tones throughout the polished finish. Measuring 46 cm wide, 31 cm deep, and 72.5 cm high, these compact units suit placement in a bedroom beside a bed to hold lamps, books, and night-time essentials. The slender proportions and decorative floral marquetry also allow them to function as elegant accent tables in a hallway or drawing room.

FAQs

Louis XV style furniture is defined by gentle curves, serpentine fronts, slender cabriole legs, asymmetrical floral marquetry, and ornamental brass hardware.

These pieces traditionally feature rich kingwood or rosewood veneers, contrasting wood inlays for floral marquetry, solid timber internal framing, and cast brass handle mounts.

Authentic pieces from this period display hand-cut veneers, drawer construction with dovetail joinery, and brass fittings showing natural aged patination.

Position these slender timber cabinets beside a contemporary upholstered headboard with neutral tones to create a balanced contrast between modern simplicity and decorative craftsmanship.

Maintain timber veneers by dusting regularly with a dry cloth and applying natural beeswax sparingly, while ensuring metal mounts remain free from abrasive polishes.
