Bridge chairs originated in the early 20th century, specifically designed with compact dimensions and low arms to accommodate players sitting around a card table during bridge games.

These chairs typically feature a sturdy hardwood frame, traditional horsehair or coil spring stuffing, and hand-stitched leather upholstery secured with brass or bronze close-nail trim.

Authenticity can be determined by examining the timber framing, hand-forged or traditional tacks, natural patination of the leather, and traditional joinery methods consistent with the period.

Their compact scale makes them versatile for pairing with a modern desk, placing in a reading nook, or using as occasional seating in a living room to add tactile warmth.

Preserve antique leather by keeping it out of direct sunlight, avoiding excessive heat sources, and periodically applying micro-crystalline wax or specialist leather conditioner to prevent drying and cracking.
