A Rare One Year Duration French Gilt Brass Four-glass Mantel Timepiece, Circa 1880.

A superior quality, rare French gilt brass four-glass mantel timepiece, of one year duration dating to the late 19th century.
 
 
The fully restored high quality substantial circular four pillar movement, fitted with large diameter spring barrel and greatwheel to the backplate driving via cocked pinion the four wheel train, set between the plates regulated by visible Brocot escapement mounted within the dial. Ellicott type gilded compensated pendulum. An extremely fine, rare movement, being of one year duration (the clock runs for 13 months).
 
 
The two-piece white enamel dial with visible escapement to the recessed centre within Roman numeral chapter ring with regulation square at twelve o''''clock, with blued steel moon hands and moulded gilt brass bezel. The dial is in excellent original condition.
