A Pair Of English Arts And Crafts Oak Side Chairs By William Birch Ltd. C.1900

William Birch supplied chairs to Liberty of London including the Ethenbert and the Athelstan, designed c.1899 and 1901.* In the absence of a contemporary catalogue I''m guessing these are one of those named chair designs, and the other is a closely related model with a broad top rail and quarter woven rush seat.
 
Both chairs are structurally robust and traditionally upholstered in leather. They are in good, well presented condition with some typical minor age associated wear.
 
99cm high x 44cm wide x 43cm deep
