A very rare antique French carriage clock which features a dial at the front and at the back of the case, with the winding and setting of the hands done underneath the case, presumably would have been used on a partner''s desk! Offered in working order and okay condition with winding key.I have not seen another clock like this before, and have not found anything online similar. It looks like any other carriage clock from the front or the back. One of the dials is marked Brevete S.G.D.G., which is a French marking used from 1844-1968, indicating the item in question was patented but that the French government offered no guarantee or validity for the invention. The other dial is signed by Mappin & Webb LTD, I guess the retailer.
