19th Century Chinese camphor wood and ebonised writing slope of exceptional quality, having a drawer to the front which when pulls out opens the tambour shutter on top to reveal a lift up stationary rack with various sized compartments, in the bottom central compartment there is the makers label “SUI KEE CHAN” There is a hinged lid which lifts up and over to reveal a black leather writing surface decorated with blind and gilt tooling, also further compartments including a pen tray, a panel that pops out to reveal two secret drawers, brass recessed handles to the sides and a shaped bass plaque on the top with decorative ebony line inlay, the writing slope is in excellent condition and has lovely figured wood throughout. Circa 1840

Martlesham Antiques is a family run business and has been trading since 1984. Located in Suffolk just outside Woodbridge, Martlesham Antiques is run from a spacious thatched cottage housing nine large showrooms with a vast adjacent car park.

Specialising in 18th and 19th Century furniture, together with creating custom hand-made furniture which is supplied to various interior designers, trade and the retail market. Every piece on the showroom floor is in excellent condition and ready to go straight into the buyers home or premises.

All of Martlesham Antiques furniture is hand polished by their own French polishers and restorers to a very high standard. We are also a member of LAPADA, the association of art and antiques.
