This is an excellent small oak Longcase clock of attractive colour and proportions and style. It should be a pleasure to own.
Offered in good clean condition the 8 day movement strikes the hours on a crisp clear bell.
Dating from the mid 18th century 1740 to pre 1770 when painted dials began to be introduced. The good thick brass dial with quality silvered chapter ring, central panel and date dial. The corner gilt spandrel typical of the era.
Made by Henry Richards of Somerton, Somerset with worked mid to late 18th Century.
Checked & Tested to be in good and full working order.
The oak case is attractive elegant and soundly constructed. The hood with built-in reeded columns and blind fret work above. The long trunk door to the case and the base are both crossbanded with mahogany.
The whole stands just 77in or 196cm high.
