A decorative mahogany hall chair constructed in the late nineteenth century utilising earlier Regency elements, including sabre front legs, turned rear supports and a reeded panel back with shaped crest. The mahogany throughout is genuine early nineteenth-century timber, showing rich colour and wear consistent with age.The mixed leg forms, altered proportions and later joinery confirm Victorian assembly rather than original Regency manufacture. It remains, however, a distinctive and characterful piece of furniture, reflecting the nineteenth-century practice of repurposing quality timber from earlier designs. Compact, stable and decorative, it makes an ideal perch in a hallway or boot room.Presented in very good antique condition with an attractive aged patina, marks and imperfections consistent with age and honest construction.
