C19th "His and Hers" French Fauteuil Chairs

A charming “his and hers” pair of C19th French fauteuil chairs, each with a beautifully carved walnut frame showcasing exquisite craftsmanship and classic detailing. Designed as complementary pieces for a drawing room, they reflect the era’s elegant style and subtle gender distinctions: his chair slightly more robust, hers delicately refined. Both chairs are in need of reupholstering and are currently covered in their original moiré (watered silk) fabric, a material very popular at the time of their production. The walnut frames, however, remain in superb condition, offering a stunning foundation for a bespoke upholstery project.
