The Old Yard has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The clever mechanism allows the chair to be height adjustable and enables the seat to tilt back whilst in use.
Manufactured by The Shannon Limited who were furniture makers known for manufacturing and selling office furniture such as desks and chairs.
It would have originally had castors enabling it to swivel but these have been removed at some date. In a lovely solid condition with minor age related signs of use.
