Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of French bedside cabinets originates from the 1930 period in the Louis XV style. Constructed from warm brown kingwood veneer, each cabinet has a slender rectangular form with a protective pierced brass gallery lining the top edge. Three narrow horizontal drawers stack vertically down the upper body, each fitted with a small round metal knob and embellished with geometric veneer borders. Below the drawers, curved aprons flow into tall, slender cabriole legs that sweep down to small plain feet, supporting an open rectangular undertier shelf with diagonal parquetry wood panels. Each cabinet measures 56.5 cm high, 25 cm wide, and 22.5 cm deep. Designed for residential interiors, these tall narrow tables suit placement beside a bed as functional bedside storage units or serve as compact display stands in a hallway or drawing room. The open lower shelf provides additional space for books or small decorative objects, while the enclosed drawers keep personal items neatly tucked away. The warm timber tones and polished brass hardware complement traditional and period-inspired home decor schemes, offering practical surface space without occupying a large footprint.

FAQs

French bedside cabinets produced around 1930 often draw inspiration from eighteenth-century Louis XV revival styles. They feature slender cabriole legs, geometric kingwood or rosewood veneers, compact drawers, and brass pierced galleries around the top surface.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth. Apply a high-grade beeswax polish annually along the direction of the wood grain, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners that can degrade antique lacquer and wood veneers.

Position them as symmetrical nightstands beside a upholstered bedstead, or place them individually as slender end tables in a living area or hallway to display table lamps and decorative objects.

Authentic items show signs of age on the underside and drawer interiors, hand-cut joinery such as dovetail joints, natural wood oxidation under the polish, and aged patination on the original brass fittings.

These pieces are constructed with a solid timber frame layered with decorative kingwood veneer arranged in parquetry patterns. Additional features include polished brass pierced rims, cast metal drawer knobs, and solid wood drawer linings.
