Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Chippendale gout chair is an 18th-century seating design created to provide elevated comfort for individuals suffering from gout, typically featuring a low seat height, padded backrest, and carved mahogany timber framing.

Traditional Chippendale chairs were crafted using dense mahogany timber, joined with mortise and tenon construction, embellished with hand-carved fretwork, and upholstered using wool, horsehair stuffing, or silk fabrics.

Authentic pieces demonstrate hand-sawn timber marks, dense mahogany construction, original corner blocks within the seat frame, and hand-carved blind fretwork detailing along the legs and stretchers.

Position the low-profile chair beside a reading corner, adjacent to a fireplace, or in a gentlemans library scheme to introduce historical texture and timber craftsmanship to contemporary rooms.

Keep the item away from direct sunlight and radiators to avoid wood movement or fabric fading, dust timber elements regularly with a microfibre cloth, and vacuum upholstery using a soft brush attachment.
