Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Wellington chest is a tall, narrow 19th-century cabinet named after the 1st Duke of Wellington following his victory at Waterloo in 1815. It traditionally features a single column of drawers secured by a hinged side locking flap.

Victorian Wellington chests were predominantly constructed using mahogany or flame mahogany veneers, featuring dovetailed drawer joints and turned wooden knobs. Internal drawer linings were typically made of solid pine or oak.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joinery, period-correct brass keyhole escutcheons, and original turned timber handles. Look for a vertical side flap or locking bar mechanism, which is the defining structural characteristic of traditional Wellington design.

A pair of tall Wellington chests functions well flanking a bed frame as substantial bedside tables, or positioned symmetrically on either side of a fireplace alcove to add vertical proportion and structured storage.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice per year following the grain. Avoid placing mahogany items directly adjacent to radiator heat sources or direct sunlight to prevent timber shrinkage.
