Pair Of Scottish Late Victorian Mahogany Collector’s Chests

A good quality pair of late 19th century solid mahogany collector’s or specimen chests with trade label for ‘David Souttar of Aberdeen’. Each with a moulded top above five finely dovetailed drawers with original ornate brass handles and escutcheons and fitted with working ‘secure lever’ locks, standing on a plinth base with shaped front.
 
In good condition with good colour & grain, with minor marks consistent with age, the drawers open and close smoothly, one chest has a very small chip and watermark which we will take out, the other is slightly lighter from the sun. These could also be useful for filing purposes.
 
The overall dimensions at the largest points are approximately

Depth - 16 ?in (41.5cm)
 
Height - 45in (114cm)
 
Internal sizes of the drawers:
 
15 ¼in wide x 14 ?in deep (38.7cm x 36cm)
 
Heights graduated from 5 ¼in to 7 ¼in high (13.5cm to 18cm)
